specific summer job or does one permit cover a range of summer (non-campus)
jobs?
thanks.

You should ask the international student advisor at your school, but
generally it would allow working for any job, as long as they are
limited to 40 hours per week (20 during the semester).

Re: F1 and employment
Hi,
Im a DSO at a college here in US. Summer is optional here, and all students can work on-campus for this quarter for up to 40 hours a week.
Off campus employment would have to be via CPT (intern) or OPT.
Carl.
