It took 5 years but we have PR!!
Hi all,
I just wanted to share our news to anyone out there who has been waiting a very very long time that we finally have PR! It arrived by post this morning, 6 days after we dropped off our passports. I nearly kissed the postman!
We applied in July 2009 and its been a very long haul. Months of nothing, a move to Toronto and back, mountains of paperwork and lots and lots of hope. I still have our 12-18 month AOR! However, if anyone from 2009/10 or the self- employment route is still out there, I hope this goes to show that they do process these cases eventually. I know the self-employment route is a mystery to many but at least our positive result might give encouragement to those still waiting.
I am so greatful to everyone on the forum who has offered advice and support throughout. I am sure I will have countless questions in the run up to our Oct move but for now I want to say a huge thankyou. Big celebrations in our neck of the woods this week

Thanks all. I feel like I have spent most of my 20's dealing with the CIC but looking forward to our move and start of a new adventure in the autumn. I can't believe it is finally happening for us!
