Student visa and defacto partner
Hi,
I have just applied for a student visa (assessment level I) and included my defacto partner in my application.
I have seen and read a lot of different threats where people say it has taken many months for their partner visas to be processed. I am not sure if this would be classed similarly or how long these things take?
The website indicates 1 month approximately and it's been just over that. To be fair we have provided a lot of evidence so it probably will take them a while to check through all it. Has anyone got any experiences with this kind of visa application- most posts I have seen aren't student visas...
Any help/experiences shared would be greatly appreciated

Thank you Pollyana
I guess we just have to be more patient as it probably takes them longer than they predict...especially when dependants are included with the student visa. I am so tempted to ring them but I won't- they must get so many calls and messages and I don't want to prevent them from doing their actual job...
This waiting game is torture but hopefully everything will work out for us

If they need more info they will contact you The issue these days is that Visa Officers need to be satisfied that you are a Genuine Student GS; plus both you and your partner are Genuine Temporary Entrants GTE... i.e. low risk of applying of immigration (even though entirely legal).
This is largely thanks to the poisonous public debates in media regarding population, immigration, refugees, international students etc..

I certainly think the country would be in a better position had they not pretty much cut out this source of income. And I know of a few lecturers who have lost their job due to lack of students.
