Howdy!
Hello everyone,
I have been peeking around on British Expats for awhile now, and thought I would finally step up and introduce myself. I am an American with a British hubby and looking forward to moving to England, hopefully, at the beginning of next year. We currently live in Virginia and will be moving into a flat on the West Sussex coast that we own and currently rent out.
My husband is retiring at the end of the year, but I still have a few more years before I can do the same. Once we get to England, we are considering looking for a bungalow in Lincolnshire. We've visited Norfolk and Lincolnshire a few times and my husband really likes the reduced traffic there as compared to West Sussex (and the reduced housing prices ). As for me, I'm a tried and true Anglophile and will be pleased as punch just to be in the UK! The only thing that makes me nervous about the move is the UK driving test and trying to find enough ice for my cold drinks (I'm originally from Texas and it is hot as Hades there and we like our drinks loaded with ice!).
Glad to be here everyone! I'm sure as the months go by, I will be filled with loads of questions and maybe a few grouses about beauraucratic red tape! I look forward to participating on the site.

Re: Howdy!
Hello and a big welcome to BE.
Excellent information can be found in the BE Wiki, not forgetting the Living and Moving Abroad forum that will help you, another set of great help is the permanent threads at the TOP of each forum, they are very pertinent to that particular forum and makes sensible reading.
Moderators deal with any problems that arise such as inappropriate posts, spammers etc, you will find their names at the bottom right hand side of each forum's index in bold font.
Please contact me if I can give you any further help.
Rosemary

Hello and welcome to BE!
Hope the move goes well. One thing though: you don't want to have your drinks full of ice-the UK doesn't do the free refill thing so unless you want to pay for a glass full of ice then it's not worth it!
I get funny looks in America because I don't like a lot of ice in my drink-3-4 cubes is more than enough for me
Have a look at the Moving Back to the UK section for advice on moving to the UK
