hi,
Its been a long time since ive been on this forum and Ive just realised my priorty 5 visa application from Dec 2008, I might be under the nsw skills in demand. I am a system administrator asco code 2231-11. Im just wondering if I can still apply for sponsorship after July 1st? my skills assessment was back in 2008 and I have no english language test done. I am currently Priority 5 and was wondering if they is any way to speed up my application, thanks in advance Sue |

Priority five has been going at a pretty steady pace since they started processing them in November/December last year.

![]() To be honest, there's no way anyone can predict that. All I'd be able to tell you is rumour & guesses, which wouldn't be helpful at all! They are making pretty good progress through P5 though. I know that processing has eased up for the last couple of weeks or so as they've almost run out of places for this financial year. Thankfully the next financial year starts on the 1st July! So hopefully we'll hear more then.

i sure will keep you updated. I am just wondering if I need to get an updated skills assessment from the Australian Computer Society as my initial skills assessment was april 2008. and if I need to take an english test for the sponsorship being an Irish Citizen

Hi,
i am also in the same boat. Applied 175 in Jan 2009 and now in priority 5. Had a new skill assessment of software engineer in Nov 2011. South Australia is offering state sponsorship on my occupation. I want to know if i have to apply for 190 subclass and then convert my existing 175 application into 190. Will i have to pay a new visa charge? Regards |

Hello everyone,
is there any information available on wether the states will discriminate against those who opt for "any of them" for sponsorship (in skillselect) rather than just picking a particular one? Thanks in advance. |

I would imagine it will be the same as before. A State likes to see some commitment on the part of the applicant. Victoria at one time even followed a policy of rejecting anyone who applied elsewhere as that showed they weren't committed to living in Victoria.

Thanks Pollyana.
From my research I have found that VIC, SA, WA are sponsoring engineering managers (my case). I am thinking of state sponsorship as a way to boost my chances but that will limit me to working there for two years (no prob there). Any advice on which state currently offers better employment oportunities? |
