Re: How to exchange UK driver's license in Ontario
If you have a full UK drivers license, you need to go in and exchange it for a full Ontario license. No test is needed. You can then drive on any road, day or night, alone or with a car full of others.

Does this rule (exchanging UK license for Canadian one) only apply in Ontario?
What's the procedure for other provinces? We're thinking particularly of Nova Scotia. Thanks.

I know that you need to take a test in Nova Scotia. It is not that hard you just need to know the Canadian driving laws. The good thing about taking the test is that you do not surrender your UK license.

yes, you can go there to the Drive Test Center.
costs 75 CAD and you'll need both parts of your UK licence.

hi
just wondering - what other countries are allowed to have
the licence exchange method ?
presumably some countries driving tests are higher rated
than others

think this might be the answer
http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/dan...on1.12.0.shtml
The policy applies to all applicants coming from either a foreign jurisdiction that does not have a driver's licence reciprocal agreement with Ontario, or a U.S. state that is not part of the Inter-provincial Record Exchange.
This policy does not apply to drivers from the following jurisdictions:
* Canadian provinces and territories
* Canadian Forces Europe
* U.S. states
* Austria, Belgium, France, Great Britain, Germany, Japan, Korea and Switzerland

Actually you can get additional copies of British license cards for £20.00 currently. So you can always have one with you. Regardless I believe it would be preferable to drive in the UK with the Canadian license (under the 12 month grace period scheme) to avoid the penalty points, should you visit.
