Whoever may be responsible, it's sickening. Whoever or whatever, you don't go for children. I could see my grandaughters in the pictures of the poor girl who was killed.

How terrible. Being reported in NZ as a Mafia hit. Whoever planted it, they are sick people.

One of the locals was having coffee with me, I was showing her my sky it rarely works here due to wind, it worked ok and the news was on about Brindisi she said Lecce where she lives is on alert police flying about, she was told it was Al Qaeda they are worried about, someone told me ages ago the local Mafia here is now Albanian

Re: bomb in brindisi
Oh god, Albanian, really?! My in-laws are near Lecce. As much as I am not saying the Italian mafia might be any better/'nicer', I'd be much more worried about the Albanians. This is probably because I am always watching Taken and I just read about book about an English girl who was tricked into becoming a sex slave in Amsterdam and then sold on to the Albanians... *shudder* absolutely horrifying. At least with Italian mafia you'd think you kind of know where you are with them.

I have lived here for three years and never been effected by Mafia, probably more criminals in London, Mafia don't effect normal people do they? I must admit I would not open a business here though, I suppose Mafia means drugs, I have noticed nearly all crime seems to be done by foreigners here

I agree, somewhat, about it not affecting 'normal' people. but haven't you seen 'Taken'?! It's great though because you know in films where the good guy could really do in the baddies, but then they don't, they just walk away and leave it? Well, I love that Liam Neeson REALLY does them in! However, even if they don't affect non criminals, you still have to be careful don't you? like not setting up a business that might tread on someone's toes or whose patch you are working on.

My daughter has just told me that the teaacher read out a letter today, addressed to all the students in Italy, from the Minister of education.
There's a copy of it in the newspaper here :

Oh no - a nutter on a loose is concerning as that makes any further attacks unpredictable. Hope they find the nutter soon.

If it is a lone madman he had better hope the Police find him before the Mafia do, with both hot on his heels I don't think he stands a chance .. should turn himself in ...

Re: bomb in brindisi
I didn't get the Canale 5 news update on this last night. I tried asking OH but he got annoyed because I didn't get it! There was an interview with a man who had been 'identified' as the man seen on CCTV.. he said it wasn't him but the reporter didn't sound convinced. Are they SURE that the first CCTV footage was of the bomber? OH said they did, becuase he was seen pressing a button on a remote control to detonate the bomb. But if the footage isn't clear enough to tell whether the 2 CCTV pics are the same man, how could they know he was holding a detonator? Aren't bombs detonated remotely using mobile phones? he COULD have been just sending a text at the exact same moment... maybe that is unlikely or extremely coincidental, but it is hardly evidence that he planted the bomb... Also the BBC in England said that it was a very crude bomb on a timer, not a remote detonator...
this poor bloke (if he is innocent), even though they filmed him from behind, if you knew him you could easily recognise him! I don't think they even disguised his voice!
