Default Expiring passport & getting married....

We are returning to the UK to get married in October (then coming back to Oz).

My fiance's UK passport expires in December.

What would be the best way of renewing and updating the name on her passport?

1. Renew her passport in her current name - return to get married - then change the name? or...

2. Not renew - return to get married - then change the name?

As I understand, you need to have a few months left on the passport to enter the country?

Many thanks in advance

You only need six months left on a passport if you are transitting some Middle/Far East countries. Depending on your route back to the UK you should be fine not renewing until you get to the UK. It's faster and cheaper to renew in the UK.

If you book a return ticket in her current name, you may have issues coming back with a different name in her passport than the one on the ticket.

Congrats and good luck with the wedding.
