I am waiting for my daughters 1st UK passport from Washington too.
Timeline:
UPS Delivered app in Washington 11th March 2011
Credit Card payment taken 4th April 2011
I figure I will give it another week due to Easter break, but it's been the six weeks processing time they touted on the website already.
As an aside I renewed my passport last October, and from date of receipt by Washington to date I received my new passport was EXACTLY 7 days. I was bloody amazed and impressed by that. I wasn't even in a hurry for it.
Fingers crossed then that my daughters app doesn't turn into a nightmare.
Timeline:
UPS Delivered app in Washington 11th March 2011
Credit Card payment taken 4th April 2011

I don't suppose it would hurt for the passport office to actually say that on their website!
Still stunned by the one week turnaround on my renewal though...they must have been bored in Washington that week.

No, it's pretty consistent that it's from when they take payment...also first time passports often do take a lot longer than a renewal, unfortunately.

When I called they said it was with the passport examiner.
Receieved at Washington on Feb 28th (signed for)
Payment Taken on March 24th (cleared on March 26th)
Phone call placed on 22nd April
Current length of time: 8 weeks since recieving at Washington & nearly 6 weeks since card was charged (28th will be 6 weeks)

Hi,
I applied for renewal of my passport from Toronto. I sent it and it arrived on the 29th March.
I recently phoned careline and they said that it has been completed today and is awaiting shipment. Does anyone know how long it takes before they ship it. Do they ship it the next day? (tomorrow in my case)
Also if it was received by Washinton embassy on the 29th March, which country was it processed in? USA or UK?
Another question: they have given me a UPS tracking number and it says:
A UPS shipping label has been created. Once the shipment arrives at our facility, the tracking status--including the scheduled delivery date--will be updated. It also states that the label was created on the 15th April. So how come it has taken so long...why hasnt it been recieved by UPS yet? They say it is being sent by UPS Worldwide saver, how long does that take?
I am so worried. I am just a student in Toronto and Im expected to fly home next week, and Im scared the passport wont arrive. Anythoughts and information is extremely appreciated.

They might... but more likely it'll be a few days before it makes its way to the mailroom.
It was processed in the US.
Probably because it hasn't yet been delivered to UPS.
Maybe a week or so.
It may not arrive in time. I'm not sure why you'd book a flight before you knew whether or not you'd have a passport.

literally between when I last posted and now, the UPS tracker states it is now in UPS hands in Landover DC at 15:01pm. Does that mean all is well and it will get here by the end of the week? It is not so far from DC up to here in Toronto.
