Default The National Business Section

Interesting reading on front page of National Business Section today about billions of dollars owed to Japanese Companies who built the Palms, Metro and Kelpinski, Arabian ranches to name a few, doesnt say how much is owed other than billions of dollars but names Nakheel, Limitless and RTA slso mentions Uk builders and consultants without naming them but goes onto say that the Japanese Government will attempt to intervene if necessary! Wonder if it will ever come out exactly how much debt Dubai appears to be in.

I doubt we will ever find out how much debt there is in Dubai. I wish they would hurry up and pay the RTA though so that they can open the bridge at the Greens!

That alone tells you how bad things really are in Dubai. It wasn't just developers on a borrowing binge but the DM too. Everything we see was apparently built on debt.

I have to wonder if there will be an admission of some type, or a one-off event, that will bring about an overnight collapse of confidence and suddenly Dubai's economy will plunge once again.

Nakheel are a disgrace, they owe everyone and just never pay. The fûckers have our lamposts switched off at night to save money as well.

I called the RTA about that the other day - the guy went off and looked it up and called me back. He said it belongs to Internet City and they are responsible for it!

It does seem crazy to have a decent bridge ready for months, have the roads either side ready and just not open it. The conspiracy theorist in me says it's deliberately kept closed to maintain traffic jams because the big man at the top thinks it makes the place look busy.

Dubai is the one place where the conspiracy theories are probably true.

I got a mail back from DIC, apparently the bridge is a TECOM project and will open in 4 days time.

I hope that is a real 4 days time, and not an 'every station of the metro will open on time' kind of time.
