My OH works 6 months during summer, in Nova Scotia, Canada , cos it's so bally cold here in Winter (though this year wasn't too bad and not much snow) ...I work part time year round.

I really want to go back to UK, but we have good jobs here and getting closer to retiring (OH is 62 and I am 55) so if we are really sensible would stay and keep working for longer, as sounds like job situation not that great in UK.

However , life isn't all about work etc and being sensible , so thinking about different options ..maybe split our time between the 2 countries ...maybe I could get a leave of absence .

Aside from the practicalities,my question is which country would be best to make our permanent residence for tax purposes...( I think Uk might be lower taxes, especially as NS seems to have high tax rates, has anyone else found this ?

Don't even know yet if our jobs allow us to be resident in the UK and work as expats here. Just wishing and wanting to be home !!!!
