I hear the same from my family. WHY would you want to move back here(doom and gloom) but until you have lived here, worked here etc you really can't compare. At the end of the day, you get up, go to work, come home and on the odd occasion if you have any money left over, you might go away for the day. Here in mississippi, its too hot most of the summer to go anywhere !! Snakes, bugs etc if you go for a walk in the woods. If I had tons of money I could go to florida , New Orleans go out on a boat, a jetski etc etc etc but hey, I work at walmart! I think my family thinks everyone lives a rich life in the usa.

You know, I miss the bacon. I don't eat bacon much, but when I do I like it salty and crisp, especially on a BLT! A BLT with British back bacon just isn't the same thing. It's more like a ham sandwich.
I haven't found a way to cook the bacon here to be like that, not even the streaky. Any know how to? Bev |

Just wondering if you ever made it back. I moved to South Carolina when I was 19 and 36 now. Married to an Irish man. Successful business. Nice house. Parents and brother still here. But unhappy. Don't fit in here. I don't relate to people here. There isn't much I do like about the us. I have an 11 year old son and we are looking at summer 2015 to move back. You are def not alone.

I went back to England last month , been years since I was home . Loved it felt like I had been reborn , came back to the US with a different frame of mind .After 21 years here it was just the push I needed to return home . There's no utopia anywhere but England is where my heart is.

We spent 2 1/2 years in California and while we had a great time there it just never felt like it was going to be our long term home. When the opportunity of a job transfer came up we took it.
There are things I miss, the weather, friends we made, etc but it just seems so much easier in the UK. |

Hi there. I know how you fee. I came to Africa over twenty years ago, ( don't want to count how many), the people are lovely, weather is gorgeous , life is easy. But for years not a day has gone past when I haven't missed beautiful green rainy Devon! I am married to a EU national although he's never been to Europe or England, a second generation settler here. Two children both just about adults. Money is very tight for us, but I think I will soon be able afford air fares 6 months rent somewhere, winter clothes, etc etc. home. Oh... Just to say those words! My son and husband love it here will stay, my daughter will come with me. We'll stay with my mum first then get a flat.
