http://www.saskimmigrationcanada.ca/trucker I'm guessing as to what route he is looking at but PNP long haul trucker seems likely. I'm not being patronising but has he not sat you down and fully explained the situation? You are fully entitled to accompany him, indeed, any reasonable company would expect you to accompany him. I did mention for your husband to try and get some information from other drivers about the company as it has been known for recruiters to embellish the job details/prospects somewhat!! They can not 'Rush him through PR', he will basically be on probation for 6 months, after that he will be on the PNP program while being eligible to apply for PR. It is then in the hands of the Federal Govt to decide whether he gets PR...or not!! You And some have been waiting over 4 years before being rejected!! Just keep researching and get the full picture, thats all i'm saying. |

I think that you will find that Loblaws has LMOs for Truck Drivers. They are coming over on work permits. They will be eligible to be sponsored for PNP . I think that wages quoted are overly optimistic. The OP and others may wish to look in the Trucking threads, there a couple that are discussing the Loblaws job. http://britishexpats.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=118

I'm very thick skinned you have to be in UK and sure in Canada too. I'm only asking for advice and don't forget your only hearing one story too. I'm prepared to give it a go and rightly so, won't be easy but prepared for worst and just looking for advice and experience of others that have done it that's all.
Not here for slanging match or people's views on my husband as no he's not perfect and if people knew me they would think i'm not either. We just trying to get out to Canada best way possible and enjoy life, an if does not work out then that's our fault. So any decent views much appreciated and any others also welcome :-) |

There is a truckers area on this site that has info on jobs in other parts of Canada. It might be good to check out your options. Good luck with whatever you decide.

There is nothing wrong with Regina or Saskatchewan. Life is where you make it and what you make it. If you want London then you are coming to the wrong place, if you want a laid back living and courteous friendly people then come to Regina.
LMO's in the past have not allowed the spouse to work. I am here because of my OH job as a truck driver. We have been here 5 years, he has driven on shitty roads, the ones in Saskatchewan are the least of your worries. In Sask it snows in Oct, stays til March. so what. In other provinces it snows, melts, snows melts, there are hills and mountains and it is slippery. My OH says the road over the Rockies or NW Ontario are the worse he's driven on. He has seen a lot more of North America since moving here. On LMO there is a set wage that companies HAVE to pay. $73 seems a bit much but as long as he's on the road he can earn the money. You don't know until you try and you are not a failure if it doesn't work out and it is better than living the rest of your life with what ifs. I live 54k outside of Regina so feel free to call out if and when you arrive.

Thanks Lorna Not looking for London lifestyle but to be honest all I know. Just want to be with my husband an seems it's what he wants. As you say life can be lots of what ifs an if you don't try ya never know. My husband her does 5 day weeks prob long hours too albeit to regulation but know sometimes he goes Monday morn sometimes half three an I don't. Then see him to Friday night till maybe 7pm. Not sure about the snow 6 months of year but know when we get it here totally different as causes right nightmare but sure Canada used to dealing with it in diff way. So hopefully I'll be out there by time Christmas comes snow an all an see how it goes. Thanks for your comments an if passing your way def. pop in |

UK weather yesterday lovely spring day sun shinning even managed to get grass cut! Mild an grey today. Sounds like weather there fierce something going to have to get used to. Although not looking forward to my husband being out in bad conditions, then yet again road conditions here not greatest with accidents in traffic. Well we'll see how it goes.
