I remember handing my paperwork in and the girl on the desk at Oz house took most of it out of the folder, kept a few pages, and the folder and said,'see ya'

Wish it were that easy to simply pitch up at Oz House and hand everything in, only to be told an hour later that the visa has been approved.

Once upon a time it was.....40 minutes back in 2003. Sometimes think it was the stupidest move I ever made, if it had taken longer I might have changed my mind

My wife got the temporary spouse visa with an initial first entry date of 29/04/2012. She was here on a tourist visa and just gone back to Kenya, but currently overseas again on a work assignment till late April. Can this date be changed, say, by a month or two?

Highly unlikely, but the only person who can tell you is the CO.

You must be so relieved you've finally submitted yours. Have you been assigned a CO yet?

I did forget to mention that we also had a ton of birthday, Xmas, Valentines day cards as well as numerous wedding invitations. I'm going to get in touch with Ticketmaster as my OH and I attended a few international rugby matches as well as concerts etc, so hoping that they can provide me with a history of previous orders placed.

Thanks for the advice on the statements. I completely forgot that an additional joint statement would need to be written , although that should be the easiest to complete.

As I've read in other posts, the application is all about address, address, address; however we have included alot of other information including photos which gives a timeline of our travels together since we met, copies of flight confirmations and hotel bookings. As I mentioned, it's looks like a novel at the moment.

Were you able to front load your police and medical checks? I called to find out if I could make an appointment for the medical and was asked to to provide a MAP number which I don't have so they advised that I'd need this before calling to make an appointment. I'm just waiting for the police check to come back.

Once it's in, I guess it's then just playing the waiting game and hoping that DIAC are satisfied with the info provided.
Don't worry - ours ended up being about 150 pages altogether including the forms, certificates and stat decs!! As with you, we put in lots of pure 'address' things but then also lots to show the social side of our relationship - wedding invitations, a sample of travel and hotel bookings covering the entire period of our relationship, photos, a couple of emails from the early days of our relationship (bit embarrassing to be honest but there you go!)....

They seem to be quite efficient as the day after our paper application was delivered at the High Commission (special delivery - I was tracking it online) the £1345 appeared on my credit card and I also got an email from my CO. The email from my CO said that current processing times are about 5 months, but obviously I'm hopeful it'll be quicker.

I front loaded the police check. For paper applicants to London you can't front load medicals, you have to wait until you're been assigned a HAP number. The email from my CO told me I now need to have the medical within 49 days so I've been ringing around for quotes. I don't know whereabouts you live but the central london ones are about £270, the Maidenhead one is £200 so quite a bit cheaper. Although, having spent so much already another £60 is hardly going to make a difference!!

hope that helps. good luck with completing the rest of your application, let me know if you've got any more queries

Default Re: Update - Info for second stage spouse visa applicants

For anyone in the application process - DIAC have in the last week updated the Partner Booklet. Make sure you are using the current one as there are changes, though I haven't tracked them all down yet

One thats been picked up on Page 18, not been mentioned on here before as far as my cobweb ridden memory goes! - Australian registered de facto relationships are now recognised.

@LizzieTYK we are in the process of submitting our 309/100 as well. Just registered on what looks like a very useful forum.

I am a brit, my wife is an Aussie with UK citizenship as well, we've been together for 11 yrs since we met in Oz and she came back to the UK to live with me. We have been married now for 8 years and have 2 daughters. Our 2 year old has UK and Oz passports and we are just doing the same for our 3 month old. We own 2 houses together and have joint everything so hopefully have plenty of 'evidence' but we will see

TBH I am somewhat daunted by the amount of detail I am having to produce to demonstrate that our relationship is genuine and ongoing beyond what I've just written in the last paragraph but we're getting there!

I'd be very interested in updates on your progress (and happy to reciprocate once we get our forms in), I am as hopeful as I'm sure you are that this won't take 5-6 months as I've seen indicated.

We noticed that the booklets and forms have changed since we started the process as Pollyana indicates, glad we spotted it before we filled them all out, just involved a re-print.

Alex

Form 990i (the visa fees) was also updated, although I think the AUD amount of the spouse visa remains the same.

Hello everyone - it's been a little while! I just have a quick question regarding change of address. My partner and I have finally arrive in Australia after doing some travel for a couple of months and it's just occurred to me that we probably need to update DIAC with our new Australian address. Is there a particular form that needs to be filled out for this?

Yep, its form 929 from www.immi.gov.au - don't have exact link on my iThing though I'm afraid.
