Dec 2011. £5,550 from PSS for 40ft plus car. Used Letton Percival for insurance as much much cheaper than movers Insurance.
PSS connection here in NZ, NZ Van Lines even helped unpack , put the beds up and put together the sofa's and chairs.

What happens with the container? Do they drop it off at your house and you fill it, am wanting to take my motorcycle and getting some weird quotes...

It depends on the company, one of the companies that quoted for us would of got their own vans to the house loaded them and then take them to their depot, load again onto the metal container before it heading off to the docks. They also wanted me to drive the car to the depot for them to load. I decided to go with a company that loaded everything onto the container at our house, their loaders pack load unload and do some unpacking- less chances of them causing damage as only one load in and one load out.

PSS was really good. but warned though that you do have the items you don't want packed somewhere they can't get at them cos they pack Everything.
NZ Van lines, who were the NZ end, where just as quick. We had marked off on our itinerary sheet which rooms we wanted boxed in and this made things a lot easier as they expect you to tick off the box numbers on the sheet as they unload and as they come with about 5 unloaders that operation is very quick as well.

Think long about bringing your bike. I brought mine, (duke), thinking I'd not get one the same over here - wrong. Not much difference in price either.
However Customs and Excite whooped it up. Reckoned it wasn't steam cleaned before shipping - and it was- charged me just under a k for that, then charged me import duty - even though I said it was for personal use and I was charged something else as well.
Then I found out from another expat that getting it VIN'ed was a drama as we have MPH speedo and they don't like that here - plus you have to have the export paperwork from DVLA.
Long story short haven't even bothered to get it vinned - 6 months after coming here get a call from customs and excite telling me that it hadn't showed up on their records and they were going to charge me more duty or something! I threw my toys out of the pram and the bill hasn't showed up yet.
I'f have a long think before shipping
