Although the highs of her career were high, it seems she had difficulty with the lows.

Always sad to see, but the music industry is littered with similar cases: One minute you're on top, the next you've taken the helter - skelter to diarrhoea drive, and there is a raging army of denitrators.

Hhhmm, sure, creative people are perhaps a bit more vulnerable around addictive substances however having stalwarts like cousin Dionne Warwick.
Godmother Aretha Franklin and indeed her own mother Cissy(a Staple Sister
if I remember correctly) all legendary ladies well into their twilight years having survived the music industry-it comes down to choice at the end of the day....
