For all those expats living full-time or part-time in France, what are the 5 things you hate most about the UK?

For me
1. The weather
2. The drunken lout and drug abuse culture.
3. People sponging off the State with no intention of ever working.
4. Infrastructure has been allowed to decay (roads and railways).
5. Political correctness gone mad.

What are your top 5 hates?

For me it is:

(1) Chavs and other spongers off the benefits system.
(2) The weak idiots in government - all parties, every last one of them.
(3) Rotten, over-priced public transport.
(4) Employment laws that give free reign to bad employers.
(5) The surveillance state: politically-correct police, CCTV cameras everywhere, shop-your-neighbour everywhere, 'think of the children' everywhere.

What would a psychologist make of you starting all your 'bad' things with the letter 'M'. So, how would Mummy, Matron, Wilson (inverted psychology), Manhood and Muscle stack up? As a Baggies fan (adopted), one-time Tory voter (the one and only time), upbringing Labour, but more content with Lib-Dems I shall have to talk with my psychiatrist, or better still my lovely OH as she knows me too well at times.

1. Lack of respect for others
2. Litter louts
3. Drunken yobs (and yobettes)
4. Health and Safety madness
5. Political correctness

I can't really say I 'hate' anything, but since you ask, here goes:
1) Obesity. Having lived here for so long I'd forgotten French women don't put on nearly so much weight as their British counterparts.
2) The crummy drinking culture.
3) "Wot you lookin at, innit"; the rise of the moron.
4) The overcrowded motorways (not that I wish to suggest in any way that toll roads reduce traffic), the decline in driving standards and the increased speed at which people go.
5) An NHS that allowed my mother to die of breast cancer because they didn't listen.

Hi Peabrain, looked at your post few hours back and thought, are we getting into politics, rather than poor humour. Answers also a tad extended, so in spirit of the post:
1. Dumpy women and men in France, 'cos they don't grow tall, but try getting size 11 shoes.
2. Tend to agree, and as for the price ...
3. Never seen agro, but assume it must exist ... somewhere ...
4. Clear roads lull me into a false sense of security when I get off the ferry in UK ...
5. Toughie Perbrain. I can only sympathise. My mum didn't do too well either. For me the NHS has too many cooks and the chefs haven't read the menu ...

... don't get me started on teachers ....

New to this site but hey here goes, in no particular order...
1. The lad/ladette 'culture' that plagues our towns and cities.
2. Roads - too full, too many roadworks, surfaces like cobblestones.
3. Gimme, gimme, gimme attitude of the scroungers and workshy.
4. Bonuses for 'poor' pathetic bankers (literal and otherwise) that already earn 6+ figure salaries and definitely don't deserve them.
5. The weather!

(But teachers are great, well some are......)

1. Too close to France
2. Expats who live in France who think it is oh so clever to slag of their homeland.
3. The channel tunnel ends in France
4. Expats who live in France can get back into England through said tunnel
5. Ferries to and from France.
