I also used Crown who did a good packing job in the UK but I was not impressed with delivery this end, I'm afraid..
First of all they lost one of my boxes in the Auckland warehouse which they finally located some days after the main delivery.
Secondly the delivery crew damaged the vinyl flooring in my kitchen but Crown are refusing to accept any responsibility, so am now in the process of trying to make a claim on my building insurance.
Sorry but would not recommend Crown after my experiences with them.

we used PSS who were great, however when we returned we used crown who lost half of our belongings as they let us pack books etc and then back at the warehouse repacked everything loosing losts of things irreplaceable. We had the worst move from hell with them. stuff they did not have time to pack was literally thrown onto the van nedless to say was damaged.
We went with then as they were going to do both ends , they did not and subcontracted out the unloading side which to be frank was a better service.

About to move to Auckland, NZ, from North Yorkshire, so thought I would make a start on sussing things out.
After living in UK for 3 years, we have decided to make the move to NZ for good with our 3 year old daughter.
My husband is a kiwi, but hasn't lived in NZ for 20 years and I'm half Australian and half English.
We're looking forward to getting settled in and a new life in NZ. Any suggestions for suburbs for rental, best place to buy a car and where to seek employment within FMCG.

Hi!
I'm a kiwi, lived in UK for 24 years, returned this April. I wrote an update of some reflections if you're interested: http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=731853
The country has changed a lot during the years away, but then so did the UK. Interesting re-learning my old home ground.
Hope it all works out well. I found it stressful even though I was coming home.

PSS shipped us from Surrey to Christchurch in January. Excellent service. They had us snipping off the real pine cones from our artificial Christmas tree on move day ! This was because NZ customs/MAF would not like the disease risk. We declared the 'obvious' things like an ornamental ostrich egg, a sheepskin blanket, wooden ornaments etc (but not my wooden spoons from the kitchen, oh well) etc. What MAF really liked was my hoover ! The MAF inspection takes place in NZ, they come to your home at an agreed date and time.
Before leaving the UK most people are having a real cleaning binge on their pushbikes, tents, garden tools, hiking boots, lawnmower etc. if they are taking them. Jeys Fluid seems to be popular. We didn't bother, outside a normal shake off or wipe down. It would have to be forensically clean and I didn't see how we could get it forensically clean. That's just my view.
NZ Van Lines dealt with our container on arrival in NZ. Very efficient. Even reassembled some furniture without a guide ! Allied movers got us from Christchurch to Wanganui. Again, very good. A few plastic storage boxes got damaged but I just couldn't be bothered claiming.

You're welcome, good luck with your move. You've got it all ahead of you. Hope you don't find Christmas in the summer to much of a culture shock as you arrive in December.
