Hi all the canadian post seems to have lost my passport between calgary and washington any one have a contact number I can call to check to see if they have it or not.

sent it registered post was told that was good enough but when i called the help line they said i should have not sent it that way.

how long should i wait before reporting it lost

I'm assuming you're referring to an expired or soon-to-be expired passport you sent in for renewal. That being the case take your receipt to the post office as they will have to initiate a trace on registered mail for you (I know dealing with Canada Post tends to feel like an exercise in futility but you don't have much choice). If it was expresspost that you used (as I did) there is a toll free number on your receipt sticker that will allow you to track the envelope yourself. The phone support lines for the passport office are costly. If you've used a credit card to pay for your renewal check your account to see if the charge has in fact been posted. That's how I got an idea of the timeline when I did my renewal. Good luck.

Tried with Canadaian post and they told me that I have to wait for 4 weeks before they will do anything about it, Checked with visa and nothing on the card as yet

That really stinks, hope the passport turns up in short order. Please let us know how you make out, no doubt many others have worries about this sort of thing when renewing. For what it's worth I seem to remember the passport office sent my new documents to me via UPS when I renewed. Unfortunately I know this doesn't help you at the moment but something others might consider when they're doing this. Good luck on getting sorted out soon

Latest news passport is now in the embasey in washington and is been processed, just hope that they dont need my Canadian passport

My sister at one point held both Cdn. and UK passports, I don't recall her ever having to send both. Glad all worked out.

Hi all had my passport back from Washington no problems and was faster then I thought it would be. They did not ask for my canadian passport or any other information so not to hard to do the cost was 255cad

What was your timeline for the UK passport? When did you send for the passport & when did you actually receive it?
