I had my biometrics done on July 11th and since then I have heard nothing. The online status for my receipt number is "Initial Review".

OK, so it's NOT for an adjustment of status case. It's for a removal of conditions case.

Did you receive the 1-year extension letter? If so, that's all you need, and it can be normal not to hear anything else for quite a while.

It pays to remember that the person who files an I-751 is already a lawful permanent resident. All the rights and privileges incident to LPR status stay in place while the I-751 is pending. Accordingly, although it is a pain in the rear end, there is no real downside if the application takes 3 weeks or one year to be approved. [It may delay naturalization].

It won't delay naturalization too long, since the person can still file the N-400 paperwork when they're eligible... even if the I-751 has not yet been adjudicated.

My husband applied for his removal of conditions in February and had biometrics in March and his application is still pending.

They may be able to file the N-400 before the I-751 is approved, but the I-751 still has to be approved before the N-400 can be approved. So the naturalization will be delayed for however long it takes to complete the I-751.

True, if all that's holding up the I-751 is that it got misplaced or otherwise forgotten about, the N-400 will shake it loose. But, if there's a problem with the I-751, the N-400 will be delayed for however long it takes to resolve the I-751 issue.

My attorney put in a service request.We got a letter saying we should receive a response within 60 days. It's now 48. He told me there is nothing wrong and the processing times on the website aren't accurate. I'm not concerned about my husband applying for citizenship( not even sure if he is going to) but I do hope his greencard will be here soon. It's been almost 9 months since they received his application.

If it gets close to the time his 1-year extension letter is expiring, he can go in person via an InfoPass appointment and get an I-551 stamp in his passport.

Hopefully it won't come to that. Our case is very straightforward. It's just annoying that it's taking so long. It's probably just sitting on someone's desk in Vermont.

FWIW, in liaison quite some years ago, the former WAC [now CSC] described in general terms the factors that went into whether or not an I-751 or I-752 would be approved without an interview. One factor was that a small, but appreciable number of cases would be scheduled for interview at random just as a control factor!

[BTW, the I-752 is now obsolete and has been rolled into the I-751. The I-752 was the application for waiver of the joint petition requirement.].

I hope we don't have an interview but if we do I'm not too worried. It would just be an inconvenience.
