Default Anyone out there in Kaliningrad, Russia?

We are moving to Kaliningrad and would love to speak to someone about getting settled before we go.

Hello from canada. We've been to russia twice including kaliningrad. Beautiful area of a huge country.

Unfortunately I cant help much with your "settling" question, but do suggest that you learn russian (or at least the alphabet) before you move there. Its very helpful. Also expect the unexpected - its a country in transition and like no other country we have visited. You will find some russians to be very kind and helpful and others (mostly the older generation) that have gone through the war and communism that keep very much to themselves.

Finally, I would do a google search for some russian forums (expats) and see if you can find some help there or even one of the travel forums.

Good luck with your move and adjusting. Just curious what has made y ou want to move to russia?

Willmore,
Good to hear from you. Appreciate the help.
Yes, I have tried to find English speaking folks there, but without success. If you can suggest a specific site, I welcome it.
We are Christian missionaries.
I have the alphabet in front of me right now. Slow going.

Here is a link for "russian expat forum for brits (Im assuming you're a brit right)?

http://www.google.ca/search?q=russia...ient=firefox-a

You can check out the forums and ask questions and see if you can get any info.

As for people not speaking english, we found that you have to sometimes draw them out to speak english as they think their english isnt good enough. On the other hand, some just refuse to speak english (for whatever reason).

As far as the alphabert - dont sweat it. We learned it on the train from helsinki to st petes and had no trouble - well except when we were ignored.....

Good luck to you......
