Would love to hear of experiences with these guys in terms of broadband and home phone service, cost. Good, bad or darn right ugly?

Good cheap ISP.
Not good stories if you need tech support - but seriously how often is hat a requirement?
For all questions of ISP'ness look here:

Hi,
Used them for a year now naked ADSL2+ with voip.
Good service for the price, as other have said tech support might not be the best but as long as you can plug a modem in you will be fine.

Cheap ISP, technical staff are thoroughly incompetent. After a year with no problems, I suddenly found my connection kept dropping every couple of minutes and also problems with internet speed - used to fluctuate wildly (from a normal 11 mbps, used to drop to 1 mbps). Technical staff were clueless, problem still unresolved after 4 months (am now on holiday, so will have to chase them upon my return).

Boy I agree with that one.
I'm 9 bucks dearer, have 400 gigs with IInet, but had to do a fair bit of configuring to get Pennytels crazy talk account to run on my modem.
So it's 89.95 for IInets 400gigs and 19.00 bucks per month for the Pennytel Crazytalk account, which gives all free calls including to 70 countries around the world, but only 150 Mobile calls per month or 500 minutes. I've been over that twice, due to the oldest daughter talking to her BF in Tasmania. The mobile calls stop when the credit runs out, which you can add to at any time.
We've been close to the download limit on peak data broadband a couple of times, because the daughters stream movies live from the net.
TPG unlimited broadband is tempting, especially as I plan to swap from Foxtel to pure Internet TV this year sometime. Plus I'll be able to use Pennytel with TPG.
