Partner occ not on main SOL=no xtra points?
#1
My profession isn't on the main sol list anymore, but it is still on one of the other schedules.
We want to apply for 176 with my partner as the main applicant as he is on the main sol.
Does the partner's profession need to be on the main sol list to qualify for the extra points?
I'm sorry if I've missed the info here or on IMMI, and any info would be appreciated.

As in, does it have to be on Schedule 3, or can you get the extra points if the partner is assessed positive in a Schedule 4 occupation?

The only difference being:
1. Schedule 3 - those with occupations listed here can apply for PR 175 (Independent) Visa provided you get 120 points
2. Schedule 4 - need State/Territory sponsorship to qualify for PR 176 (State Sponsored) Visa with a restriction of staying in the sponsored state/territory for the first 2 years. Need to have only 100 points to qualify (including 10 allotted for getting state/territory sponsorship).
The differentiating point is Schedule 4 SOL list includes all those occupations on Schedule 3 and a lot more as well.

Sorry, I didn't word my query well at all.
A main applicant can earn extra points if their partner meets a certain criteria, including being in an occupation on the sol.
What I was hoping was that my other half (the main applicant) can still get these points even though my occupation is on schedule 4, and not on schedule 3.

However as the poster above mentions, are you absolutely sure you need these points anyway? With occupation, age and language points most people would easily reach 90 (and then you get another 10 for state sponsorship).

I'm trying to scrape together points because we might need more if we don't get the sponsorship and/or can't apply before July 2011.
Thank you for your responses. I'll wait to hear from Vic, then query with IMMI if I need to.
Thanks again.
