I do appologise if I am raising a subject that may have been discussed here many times before.
I have been resident in Portugal for 3 years now - with the possibility of staying on for 3 more. I own a Portuguese registered car - and have all the documents bang up to date etc. Except of course that my driving license is still English (but the card EU photo-card version) which still has my UK address on it. Must I also get a Portuguese licence showing my Portuguese address ? If so, where do I go to have this done ?
Thank you in advance.

You should have registered your UK lisence as soon as you became a resident .
You do not need to change to a PT . you will be given a form to keep with your UK lisence.

Thanks. Since posting this question I have used the search function (something I should have done in the first place!) and found several threads that already discuss this matter. I have now downloaded the relevant pdf from the IMTT website. Its a single page that requires filling in of details, a photograph and signature etc. I think it needs an official stamp from the lojas do cidadao - wich I'll go into sometime soon. But in the meantime, I'll just keep it handy with the rest of my car documents.

Its in this section:
Exchanging an EEC licence for a Portuguese licence
Fill out form Modelo 1 IMTT available from the local IMTT office or online:

I'm still not 100% if this is form that's needed to obtain a 'mirror licence' that shows your resident address in Portugal - or if the form is for exchanging your UK licence for a Portuguese one completely. I have time next week when I can pop into the lojas do cidadao for clarification. But I think keeping a completed signed copy of it (+photo) with other car documents at least shows good faith and if stopped by the Police, it may make a difference between being issued a fine, or just given a slap on the wrist. Maybe!

I still have a resident address in the UK - so I also keep a couple of bills with my UK address on them just to be able to say that the licence I am using is still valid for that address. Before I came to Portugal, I did manage to change my old licence for the new pink EU style card type. So if stopped by the Police at least the licence won't look too 'alien' to them!
Remember that many holiday makers who only come to Portugal for a few weeks also drive either their own car or a hire car. And if of them is issued with penalty points in Portugal, those have to go on your UK licence. So as long as the address on your licence is still valid for either Portugal or the UK, it could make things easier.
