Hi Babrbara,
We are flying with singapore airlines, we have found that this is the best route for us to get to Adelaide, with a stop over in Singapore.
They allow 40Kg of luggage with a migrant visa and its just 2 flights from Manchester, the flight times are not to bad, leave Manchester about 9.30 am arriving in Singapore at 6.30 am, leaves Singapore 11.45 PM arrives in Adelaide 10-30am
Good idea about using Quantas credit card, will do that
Regards
Les

Hi,
I had a look at pomsinoz site yesterday & there was a comment about increased luggage allowance for Emirates. There are various conditions which would probably be met by most of us on this site. It was posted by lynne1266. Basically confirming that you need to book via Emirates and movingPlanet (not sure what that is), one way, no stopovers & have a visa. Once you've booked online you then contact Emirates within 24 hours of booking to get your 50kgs
Hope that helps. I did print the details if you need any further info

I also like Singapore Air Les, except for the strangely hard seats, but really dislike the long sector, hence the quest for a shorter route. A stopover in Dubai and perhaps a 6-hour break in Singapore. Or failing that some pill to make the whole unnatural experience of being cooped up for 13 hours not matter.

Like you Steve we also prefer to use Singapore and have to agree about the seats this is in spite of rather ample personal padding. We thought it was just us. We found the last trip home nearly unbearable for the last 90 minutes or so. On a more serious note, please don't be tempted by any knock out pills, it's as good a way as any to land up with a DVT.

I hope the exchange goes as smoothly as an exchange can.

Re the Pills. I used to travel between UK & South Africa quite regularly on business and my doctor (South African) gave me some sleeping tablets to take, which I duly did, and the guys I was travelling with said I fell asleep with my knife & fork in my hands just about to eat my inflight meal & I didn't wake up until the approach to Heathrow! But boy did I feel refreshed, but hungry

Just got back from a week's holiday in sunny (but breezy) Shepton Mallett! Five new pages to catch up with............. but
Not much happening then? No red stars,
No COs.
Had hoped to see some progress but so far just lots of shopping advice.
Haven't had Marmite for 2 weeks now
. Think I might be able to survive without it if this carries on.
I always buy Aussie brandswhen we're there and find my whites are OK
Even the cheapest seems to do the job and they work in cold water too!
