I dont think they would have a problem meeting the financial requirement as the pensions the get are Very good, but not sure if they would have a problem with age or something else.
My father was 85 when he acted as joint sponsor for someone. His income was from social security and retirement pay. It was approved.

By signing Form I-864, you are agreeing to use your resources to support the intendingimmigrant(s) named in this form, if it becomes necessary.

necessary would be as shown below, Yes?
What are these?
Federal, State, or local means-tested public benefits

Sorry should look this up myself i know but i see some great info and advise given on the forum.
Check one of the links I posted for you, it goes to the I-864P which explains what means-tested benefits are. Basically it's things like food stamps and welfare. It's not private or personal bills, hospital bills, rent, or anything like that.

DK,

You continue to confuse 'pay' with 'support'. The sponsor is not obligated to pay your expenses or your debts, the sponsor is obligated to assure that you have a minimum level of income (125% of the poverty level, not 100%) that you will use to pay your expenses and debts.

The only 'paying' that a sponsor may have to do is re-pay a government agency that provides you with support when they shouldn't or needn't have. It's the sponsor's obligation, not the government's obligation, to provide you with support if you can't support yourself.
