Default Further requests from MA... grrr!

Hi all

Well we sent our GP's report to the MA, basically stated they weren't sure why liver function test results were slightly abnormal but that they had tested for everything and all clear... NOT GOOD ENOUGH!

Email from CO yest saying the MA wants a gastroenterologist specialist report, why didnt they just ask for this is the 1st place?! Just wasted 6 weeks!

Sooo, we are looking for a private clinic on Monday to see if we can get a report off them... so much for a decision before xmas

Has anyone else had to go through this? If so what was the outcome of the MA decision?

Oh I am sooo stressed!

Ta

Neil had to see a gastroenterologist for a slightly high liver count, so then we paid hundreds of pounds to find out that there was nothing wrong with him

Which particular liver count is too high? do you have a number? then we can tell you how near to Neil's it was when he got the OK - even though it was still a bit over.

Does your letter include the words "ultrasounds scan"? If it does, then whatever your specialist says, you will need one to satisfy the MA - we asked for it specially even though our specialist said "it won't say anything more than I can deduce from blood tests" - and he was right!!

I am beginning to think that GP letters are a waste of time by the way.... the MA always seems to want specialist letters.

All I can say is give them EXACTLY what they want - we gave the MA letters from GP when we were referred over son's Osgood Schlatters (growing pains! I have had a couple of threads re this on here) and it was no use. We had to see an orthopaedic specialist and get x-rays which all gave less detail than our GP and cost us loads of dosh. However, there was no way the MA was going to accept anything less (believe me - we tried!). We even wondered if the MA had any medical qualifications - if they had Googled it, they would have seen it is harmless and you GROW OUT OF IT!
So, stick with it, if NZ is where you want to be!

Best of luck and hope all goes well.

Hi all - thanks for the kind comments... sure it'll work out in the end, just really frustrating how difficult they make it!!!

Thanks Jan, his levels are only just over the limits so thats not really the issue that they are mega high or anything, they just want a reason! He has had an ultrasound scan and they have the results, all normal. So its just the gastro's report outstanding... well for now anyway!

We have been reffered privately to a specialist and app on 5th Jan. Apparantly doesnt need more tests, they will just look at this results and write a report on it... thats the case anyway. Will cost a couple of hundred but dont actually care anymore, just want the med signed off!!!

Thanks also Chippy for your advice, we have gathered this too from what we have had to do, they are very picky and seem to do things in the wrong order but hey ho, they hold all the cards!

Thanks all and merry chrimbo... I for one am getting sloshed over the xmas period! x

Hi Flowerpot - just wanted to wish you good luck on the 5th with the specialist.
OH saw specialist on the 10th DEC still waiting for his report although to be fair OH did have more blood tests and results weren't back before xmas. Our C/O gave us a 19th DEC deadline to have the report sent to him (obviously missed this!!) did contact C/O who has been great told us not to worry and to send report ASAP. Also reassured us that once OH had sign off from MA then he would be able to finalise visa descision same day. (His name is Andrew and he has been fantastic) Responds to to our queries same day and asked me if I wanted him to write to my prospective employer outlining the delay!!.
So we are now in 2010 and still no further forward in migration terms than we were in 2009. Also had job offer since feb 09 and not sure if they are still going to hold it open (agency is closed until 11th Jan!!)
it will all be resolved soon!!
sorry but a belated HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE

Thanks all

Had app. on Tues, all OK! Specialist has put the slight fluctuating levels down to mild non-alcoholic fatty liver, although ultrasound scan all clear so he said it is very very mild! No long term prognosis... whooooop!
Basically OH needs to get a bit healthier, BMI is 29 and he needs to get it nearer to 25 to get rid of the fatty liver.

But thats irrelevant really with regards to the MA I think? As his BMI is <35 he's OK I think?

Anyway, should get report in next couple of days and send off to the C/O. this will be the end and the MA will sign the darn med off!

Anyone else had fatty liver diagnosed? Did this present any probs with the MA?

Having done a little research on the forums I dont think this will fail the med?

Ooooooh please let the new year bring good news! Thats great news Ragdolls, we both get what we want!
