Parfum (or perfume) has a higher concentrate of essential oils and will last longer than a cologne. The scent of each of them will be the same, but the concentration is different. Cologne is usually cheaper than perfume, but you'll end up using more cologne to get the same effect.

Rene
Thanks Rene that is what I thought. But the subtle hints as to what I might consider buying along with size and price was cologne which I couldn't find but at the price was perfume. I can buy with confidence now I'm not getting it wrong

Get some for me, I love that scent. (I take it you've been gently guided as to what scent to buy, I use a Sharpie and arrows on the ad and tuck it into a porno mag in the bathroom).

Rene's got it. The hierarchy of fragrances from most concentrated to least goes: perfume (parfum); eau de parfum; eau de toilette; eau de cologne (cologne).

I find it slightly disturbing that you know that...

Nothing as subtle as that. It was on a piece of paper which had written at the top in big letters Linda's Christmas list.

I wish I got one of those. Apparently I "should know" what she wants for Christmas through some kind of matrimonial telepathy. Well, the vibe I'm getting is telling me... new frying pan. I know it sounds kind of lame, but don't worry girls, I'm springing for one of those good ones, the kind that looks like Calphalon, but isn't. And before you ask, yes, she likes to cook. Well I guess she does, she does it all the time.

My present is almost as bad... a kitchen sink.

Seriously, that's what she wanted.

A large farmhouse style, white porcelain kitchen sink. Says it will go well with the granite countertops she has eye on for some time next year
