Hi Folks,
I am wndering if there is any chance of working in Holland if I do not speak Dutch. I will be taking classes but it will be a slow process and will take quite a while. I am not holding out much hope but any advice most welcome.
Thanks
Marie

How can I explain this? In the UK if you cannot speak English then you will have difficulty talking to the patients. The same with The Netherlands.

Perhaps in the bigger cities there is a chance of work? Den Haag, Amsterdam? After all, there are loads of expats living over here and some don't speak Dutch at all and sometimes only English. Although I know the Dutch are great at languages and have no trouble communicating in English. I am not sure if there are particular areas within hospitals who have like an expat department where English nurses/doctors work? Perhaps not, but I would look into it more before deciding that it is not possible.

I will have a good look into what is around in the Haugue area.
Many thanks,

I personally find some disclosures made above quite unhelpful and even miss leading. They are giving you false hope. But you seem to like to hear what you want to hear. But again I am going to tell you some truths whether you wish to hear it or not.
If a person is gainfully employed in The Netherlands then they have to pay into the “basisverzekeringâ€. There is no opportunity to go to an expats hospital in the basisverzekering (Dutch Health system), even if you are paying top wack for health cover.
Even if there was an expat hospital, how would you communicate with other staff, training courses or even read the medicine instructions?
Maybe do a search and you will find what I have written is near the truth.
Where in Germany have you managed to work without German? Near the British Army of the Rhine maybe?

I think you have answered my question very well.
I have been returning to the UK from the USA on a 3 month basis to work for the last 3 years so I think I will continue to do this from the NL. Now a much easier journey.

Best wishes.
Marie
