Default DaveandSarahs New Zealand trip

Bevs

It was great - got back on Saturday just past.

Christchurch, Arthurs Pass, Punakaiki, Lewis Pass, Hanmer Springs, Kaikoura, Picton, Interisland Ferry, drive to Ohakune, National Park, Tongariro summit, Taupo - town and lake, Craters of Moon, Orakei Korako, Whangerei, Russell, Pahia, Waitangi, Waipoua Forest, Devonport and Auckland.
Penguins, jungle, helicopters, baby seals, albatrossi, dolphins, mountains, volcanoes, geysers, hot springs, small boats, big boats and yachts, fishing, big canoes, more birds and more dolphins, massive trees, massive sand dunes.
Spaceships, Icebreaker clearance shop, savoury muffins and scones.
Freindly people, but do they not go anywhere without a coffee ??
No-one else there !!

think that about sums it up

just need for one of the interviews to come thru.
Will be starting the EOI process as soon as.

Feel free to post this to a new thread on the main forum

You drove to Tongariro Summit? You walked the crossing was that?

Sorry wicked sense of humour there for those people who may understand that one

We may have indeed passed each other while you was cruising around the area of Tongariro National Park, I have seen a lot of spaceships around the neck of the woods and spoke with a couple of english folk. Might even have been you without realising it?

Being nosey where did you stay in National Park?

Haven't downloaded pics yet - but will - wasn't expecting so much interest

To answer some questions posed :
Spaceships - if there is a serious question there - google spaceships.tv (i think) - orange camper vans built out of a Toyota MPV thing - not bad at all, will come into their own in the warm weather when you can sleep out the boot without ice forming on your nose.

Tongariro - did the crossing up to Red Crater, and then onto to the mountain summit, and down its south face covering unmarked ground back to the start. Lots of snow above souoth crater, which made it a bit dicey, and inappropriate for a lot of the people up there
Might have been us you spoke to - I'm very tall...

National Park - parked up in the Ski Haus lodge - very friendly lady, and good facilities with an enormous open fire. It was perishingly cold that night, but the stars were amazing.

Thanks very much for all your good wishes

Have found very few places out were they make a proper cuppa. Tea leaves are rarely used & most places put the teabag in the cup & give you a wee pot of boiling water
