Default Canadian news media, which one to watch ?

Hi

Just wanted to ask people which Canadian news media do you watch, to get a balanced view of Canadian and or world events ?

CBC
Global National
CTV
CBC: The National
BBC World News

I realise no news media will be totally impartial, but just wanted to avoid watching news which has a bias, be it conservative, liberal, etc. Wanted to set a poll up, but not sure how to do it.

Forgot to mention CHEK news which I think just covers Victoria, Vancouver Island.

I watch global BC for local feel good news. The quality of reporting is rubbish as it is on all the networks. If you actually want proper news like what you get in a newspaper in the UK or even a dumb version such as News 24 then you are out of luck here. You'll have to rely on the internet.

I watch CBC. Their newscasters are best to lipread, especially Heather Hiscox. I am not pleased with their new dumbed down standing up formula but am pleased that the annoying woman from Nova Scotia has gone. What was her name, gone and forgotten. Bad hair, wrong shade red lipstick, did sports and weather.

Anyway, CBC for me and local news CHEX for Peterborough.

None of the above. The news bulletins aren't at convenient times, so I rely on the internet. I avidly followed news and current affairs when in the UK, now I rarely find the time.

I listen to the World Service and read the Guardian. There was a story about Canada on one or the other a couple of months ago, that's enough local news for me.

Same, but with Radio 4 instead of the World Service. The only time I realy watch Canadian TV is when I'm at the dentist. It's usually marginally better than whatever is going on in my mouth.

...Had TV in the hotel we stayed at for our first 6 weeks here - it didn't really take - so haven't bothered for the last year or so.

Local and Brit papers online.

CBC for us too and CFCN the local CTV affiliate for local news, sports and weather.

CBC national.
CTV Local.

They all seem to be going downhill lately though. Its more like they're creating the news than reporting on it.

I switched dentists after they were playing an endless loop of Mr. Bean on the TV that was mounted into the ceiling above me.....that torture was worse than root canal

On TV CBC National and Global for local news. I also listen to a lot of CBC Radio 1.

I find I am becoming more North Americanized (or it could just be age) in that I care less and less about international events. If they don't impact me, and I can't do anything about them, why should I care?

That's how I feel about politics and events in Canada. It really doesn't make any difference to me who the curling champion or Prime Minister is.

None, the local stuff is all too vapid and inane, the national stuff is just dull and poor production. Like most on here I get my news from the internet.

I think you may be referring to 'Colleen Jones'. She was the skip of a very successful Women's Curling team, and I believe represented Canada , with great success . Like you, I was not thrilled with her weather/sports reporting/ but I can still admire her for her curling success. As to lipstck colour and hairstyle, that surely is HER personal choice.
