hi we moved to tauranga in jan 07, with a job moved into a rental on the 12jan, stayed for seven months really loved it but could not sell house , wrong estate agent ect ect, so came back late sep 07 started old business said we would have a look again within two years, well we are talking about going back, it is different from UK, but like any thing you have to work at it
even in recession there is no place i would like to be more than NZ
cost £30,000 round trip first time, going back again would say at least £15,000, you are only on this plannet once go for it, you cant take it with you

I would add that you should treat it like an experience and not feel bad if it doesn't work out. Nor should you feel guilty for not liking it as much as others seem to. In fact, I have found that the folks who aren't all gushing and lovÃn it all, are the ones in the end who stick it out.
All places are good for the time you are there, and are an experience. So enjoy them for what they are, and don't expect too much for them. But, I would perhaps wait a while due to the bad exchange rate.

Hmm exchange rate does seem a bit pants at the moment, well our time scale if all goes to plan & plain sailing which it never does we should be heading out mid to end of next year so hopefully things might have started picking up by then
