Following on with our house trauma, tomorrow is finally the day we get to meet with the loss adjustor and go through the quotes from the Contracters and find out if we have to put any money towards the costs.

To say I am worried is an understatement. Specially when you ask the question "If there IS a cost to be paid by us, and it is a lot - and we cannot afford it - what then" is met by " Well, erm, well obviously we will do what we can to help, but there is only so much we can do".

So as I can't seem to find out what happens in a situation like this when the work HAS to be done to have the building inspectors sign off on the work, but you can't afford to pay your part, I doubt the land of sleep will come visit me tonight!

Fingers crossed for me everyone that the news isn't too painful!

Hope it goes OK. I still think it's completely nuts that a situation such as you describe could possibly arise.

One good thing is it turned out the roof over the bedrooms do not need to be replaced - confirmed by the Building Inspector. T

hey are now saying that they will pay for the trusses etc over the lounge but not over the kitchen and bathroom - BUT that the roof HAS to come off over the kitchen and bathroom to make the roof over the lounge meet code..lol.

That has all been assigned long ago - only a teeny bit left and I did't want to have to spend it on the roof that I have just paid to be shingled 4 weeks ago

They agreed it all had to come off for the roof to meet code. We shall wait and see what tomorrow brings. I just don't understand it and am hoping that tomorrow will bring me some understanding of how this insurance thing all works!
