Hi all,
In my grant letter it talks about concessional one way fare and excess baggage by airlines. I am sure everybody's grant has that mention.
My question is what kind of concession they provide and what airlines are involved in scheme??
I talked to singapore airlines they provide 40 kg/ticket excess baggage. I read on some website that quantas air gives 25% discount on fare.
Any experience to share???
Thanks and Regards

Emirates 50kg allowance plus consessional one way fare if you use the UKMOVE promotional code on their website when booking the tickets.
No good for me as I had already validated my Visa

They recently decided to give everyone 30kg and no longer offer the 50kg for migrants. We used it when we came over back in March and shockingly still went our 150kg allowance, the nice lady waved us through though

We used a special one way migrant fare with Qantas, we had to give them a copy of our visa and got the 50kg allowance and the fare was if I remember about 350GBP from heathrow.

Just booked 3 adults (one 12 yr old) & 1 child, economy, with Singapore Airways, with 3 day stop over in Sing. in a 4* hotel, plus transit cab to and from airport for £2800, incl all taxes etc.
Luggage allowance 40kg assuming non validated/stamped permanent visa.
Had to get email confirmation from Singapore Air, (very easy to do and they answer really quickly) that the double allowance would be applicable to the second leg.
Didn't really shop around too much, but seemed a good deal to me.

We didn't even give this a thought when we booked our tickets on Sunday but I've just checked the link & doesn't look like we'd have benefited as we flew out last October to validate our visa.
Emirates is offering an additional baggage allowance totalling 50kgs in all classes for movingPlanet users migrating to Australia or New Zealand. However, this is subject to the following controls:
*
It is valid for UK departing passengers holding British passports only.
*
The passenger must hold a valid permanent migration visa stating over 1 year stay. No multiple entry or visitors visas will be accepted.
*
It is not valid if you have a stopover (exit the airport) in Dubai or anywhere else on the way.
*
Tickets must be one-way (no return date or open returns).
*
You must NOT have entered Australia on the visa already.
*
Infants are not entitled to an excess baggage allowance.

Still flying with Emirates, got the 30kg allowance plus free additional golf bag, plus a return airfare for only a little bit more than the single!
