The UK is made up of many counties. It is a bit like the UAE being made of different emirates. In the old days, there were many Sheikhdoms in the UK - such as Wessex, Northumbria etc. There was a powerful Sheikh who united all the counties into a federation, but the smaller English Sheikhs even today still have a Majlis in London which they call the House of Lords....

The main original language of the British people was Celtic, also called Gaelic or Gallic. The language changed when invading tribes from Italy, Scandanavia, France, Germany conquered various parts of the UK....

to be honest ..i feel if there were more than one language in one country it is going to put barriers between people.
it is better to have one language only

those are the six counties of Ulster which make up Northern Ireland (The bit thats still in the UK) I think there are 3 more counties which are part of the Republic of Ireland.
The UK is mainly comprised of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
there are also semi-independent islands off the mainland such as the Isle of man, Jersey, Guernsy, Sark, and Alderney which also come under the UK.
Then there are overseas territories such as Bermuda, St Helna, Diego Garcia etc which are also still part of the UK.
