Hi Alison, I just found this on a web page for an approved DR who deals with the CIC for immigration:

What is involved?
The physical examination by the doctor is a general checkup. It does not usually involve an internal examination. The other tests depend on age:

Chest X-ray (age 11 or over). Pregnant applicants need further advice.

Blood tests for syphilis and HIV (age 15 and over)

Urine test (age 5 and over)

Hope this helps !!

You keep up your fitness

Just sit and wait, I'm afraid - the recruitment dept are in charge of the timings to a huge degree - you will learn a phenominal amount of patience over the next year or so - a depth of which you never knew existed !! Get reading the Canada section of this site in detail, look, read and listen, plough through the Wiki.

Your first contact, if they are happy with your application, will be to invite you over for all the tests - five in total, usually over a 10-14 day period - at your expense. Lots of info already on this thread about what to expect - or just ask/PM any of the regulars on here.

Good luck

I am at the same stage but it is just playing the waiting game. I am waiting to be told if I get a file manager. But I know of someone who's application arrived on the same day as mine, a couple of hours AFTER mine and they have already been assigned a file manager, last week. So who knows?

Jon

Hi Everyone,

I've started with the CPS on a new initiative and will be joining the classes on May 26th (Yippeee!!)
A chap I'm working with at the moment wants to sell his house, but without a realtor. He's asked me all about the saga we are going through with realtors :curse: and what the chances are of selling a house privately?
Due to the behaviour of some relators I've urged him to crack on with a private sale and use the commission money to make his property really attractive.
Anyway, it would be rude of me not to tell you all about the possibility of buying his house, should anyone be coming over on a research trip or already here and getting ready for classes
The house is in a quiet suburb of the well established community of Hidden Valley in the North West end of the City. It's over 2,200 square feet in all and is a split level bungalow. He has owned it from new (11 years) and has just completed a host of upgrades, including a beautiful hardwood floor throughout the upper level. He tells me it will include a hot tub that seats 8 (albeit his wife may need some persuasion). Schools are aplenty and very nearby along with a plethora of leisure activity centres.

PM me if anyone is interested in taking a look. Also PM me if you are heading this way to buy a house and I'll tell you of some unpleasant tricks realtors are using to keep house prices inflated.

Good luck with the testing Chris.

Cheers for now.

Keith.

For those of you waiting for info, response, etc., from CPS, Ièm not sure how much it matters but the department is currently going through extensive promotions and transfers. The new Chief has decided to move just about everybody above the rank of Constable and this will carry on for the next month at least. The Human Resources Section has a new Inspector and he may want to take some time to figure out how things work. Some of the uniforms in the Recruiting Unit may be transferring soon as well and I donèt know how much time they will have to clear up their files. Hang in there and theyèll get back to you.
