Yeah, the Marmite would kill my appetite.

I think I need to paste a picture of a disgustingly fat person on the fridge and the pantry.

Do yourself - and your wallet - a favour, Dee: before forking out lots of $$$ on a brand new treadmill, have a look around the Goodwill and other thrift stores - they always have TONS of all kinds of nearly new (or indeed never used!) exercise machines for pennies on the dollar!

YES!!! That's true! Some of those treadmills aren't good for you, I must have read the same thing. I have tried using a couple of home type treadmills - my in-laws - and compared to the the big, solid, stable heavy duty ones, they were bobbins - they felt flimsy and unstable. I can feel ligamentous knee and spine injuries coming on even as I thin k about it... Just be careful.

Excellent advice as usual. We have a free mag that comes to the house every week, The Flyer, not sure if available in your area, and there is always plenty of gym equipment for sale at a bargain in there.

Setting the mill to a cross country setting will get your heart rate up, and make you sweat buckets in no time

Hey,
I'm one of those people that 'normal' people hate - I have always been slim (don't like the term skinny) I weigh 122 and am 5'7" but I get just as many comments as an overweight person would, except people say it to my face - Why do people think it's acceptable to say 'Wow you are really skinny' when I wouldn't dream of saying to someone 'Wow you are really fat'!
I used to have the same problems getting clothes to fit in the UK, most of the time having to take it to a tailor to have things altered. People (wrongly) assume that if you are slim you are fit and healthy, that is so not true in my case, although since moving here, I'm eating fairly healthily but still binge on the chocolate biccies and moose munch (man that stuff is addictive!).
I have a fast metabolism so doing any form of aerobic exercise means I loose too much weight too quickly, so I have to find something that works for me - Yoga is great and it keeps you flexible for the nighttime exercises
But it's not just overweight people that have weight 'issues' although I resigned myself to the fact years ago, that I am what I am and I'm happy, but I would love to put on weight and have sexy 'curves' :-)

I know. I am forever watching what I eat, but we go out and she pigs out like there is no tomorrow - we've been friends for over 20 years and she has always been this way...genetic, all her family are like that.

I have just sat and watched this programme after taping it last night! For those that didnt its about an experiment to get to a double zero in five weeks. Now for someone (moi) that has battled weight for 13 years, no not that i am built like a brick shite house, but I am a lover of food, it has hit a nerve.
I know i will never get into a double zero, not in this life time that is, and I also know that i am not happy with the weight i am. I have absolutely no willpower. I have cut down on the apple pie and icecream to just having it maybe once every couple of months..... my biggest crime is proper meals. Meat and veg being my fav.

as most of u know I did the ally pills, didnt do a damn thing. and now after watching this programme its making me aware that so many people are so engrossed in their weight!!! Me being one of them.

Anyone else had bad experiences with weight? I know before the birth of my second monster that i was very happy with my weight.. 8stone and stable.. since then my heighest was 12 and my lowest was 9... now i am a bit in the middle ... i think probably a 10 and a bit. I know i get on the scales most days and god help anyone within throwing distance if i have gained!! makes me miserable and a bitch to live with. What is the happy medium, cut out everything i enjoy? exercise more? although I do exercise a hell of a lot as it is... walk very frequently 8 miles...(the park route) run around after the kids, and work is not easy on my feet either (flight attendant).

so what is the answer, be happy with the weight we are as long as no health problems or become obsessed with the thin look.. Which is it.. and what is unhealthy... going into plus sizes? or the petit look?

Anyways the programme last night showed me some of the experiences i have gone thru, and the serious effect weight has on ones sanity!!
I was very successful last year following my own version of South Beach (basically reducing breads and making sure I got lots of lean protein and veggies) and logging what I ate on www.fitday.com.

I've put some of that weight back on because for me it takes careful planning to make sure I'm eating as I should. With school and working full-time I let this slide. Hope to get back into it soon. One of my co-workers is following the same plan with success and I feel guilty every time she credits me for turning her on to the idea.
