Hi

Good luck, i hope you hear soon and get here before crazy winter weather

I already have been to the pare orientation, but didnt know of the time.weight changes, that changes lots for me. Don Muldoon was the one there when i took it a month or so ago! it was agreat help to know what was involved and they give you lots of training techniques for when you actually do make it to training....

I plan on trying out for the PARE before the beginning of December, i have just had minor surgery and will be out for a week or so then will get back to the gym!

I just hope i dont apply too late.....

Then all is complete i would imagine my file will go before the selection committee and then i will know roughly. I am really excited as lots was being said at the PARE about how quick the new Chief wants to recruit, i have heard that there is a 10 day thurn around now froma completed application. I will have to wait and see. Get in touch with Don MULDOON, he organises the PARE, very helpful. He said yesterday that PARE orientaitons were going to be held every Saturday very soon his no is 403804-9223.

Dawn,

Don't worry you won't be applying too late, their drive is high on recruiting, especially local people, make sure you are fully recovered and best of luck when do take it.

Maria,

Really pleased for you. I could tell the first time you did the test when I was over there at the same time that you had the determination to pass. You have invested lots of time, money and effort and you will hopefully now reap the rewards.
Look forward to catching up by e-mail when you get home.
Now go enjoy the rest of your trip.

Lucky for me they have changed the time to 4 mins 45 seconds and dropped 5 kilos off the bag carry and push and pull. I found out that there is a technique for this machine and practised a little before doing the PARE again, this definately paid off. I am so excited. I took my result sheet straight to the recruitment dept who told me that i would probably wait 2/3 weeks for my file to be reactivated, but you'll never guess, i had a phone call from my new file manager half an hour later, he had already booked me in to redo my psych test this very morning. All done now all i have to do is provide him with details of all my referees email addresses. WOW, all of sudden there is hope for me and my family, who absolutely love it here.

Maybe i am the first british woman to have passed the PARE while living in the UK, i don't know but i feel absolutely on top of the world, aslo alittle scred that Tim and my dreams are actually coming true.

Good luck to all future women who take the test, 'Go get em girl'. I must add though, that the cross trainer and being able to run really long distances are not what is needed to pass this test, it is determination, interval and weights training. Maria

Good one!! I knew you could do it. I knew you were steely in determination, but, by the heck how does anyone take TWO tests in the same day and then pass it?? Seriously amazing!
Enjoy the remainder of your stay and truly soak up the place now that huge weight is off your shoulders. If my stuff goes OK I'll look forward to meeting such a hard-nut in classes - just don't beat me up!!!
Well done again.

Keith.

I've heard they have. Allegedly, the PTI's are not very happy about it - so someone higher up must have decided they need to change things to get more people through. No disrespect to anyone who comes in after the change though.

If my hubby's schedule is anything to go by, there is a lot of fitness, they'll still give you the occasional beasting and you will be one fitter bunny at the end of your training anyway !!! Everyone is his class has lost pounds (one lad has so far lost about 45 lbs) and they have all lost body fat, even the lean fit creatures.

So whilst it may be viewed as 'lowering' the standards from some point of view, if the training remains the same, it'll all come out in the wash .... so to speak.

At the PARE orientation they give you a sample training sheet for 6 weeks and it mainly includes everything you get on the actual training and it is pretty gruesome!! most of it isnt regular stuff you would do in the gym, they are working muscles you wouldnt even think you had!
