We've had thunder and more downpours today - if it continues it could add to the problems in some areas.

I was walking through Benidorm on Monday and there was a Palm tree lying flat on the beach, and clearly the storm drains had washed a lot of the beach away

Heavy rain for the last 3 hours + thunder. Just driven back from Torrevieja, and there are a lot of roads with several inches of standing water, safe to go through if you drive slowly, but not at the speeds some of the idiots I've seen today drive through them.

Hi
Does anyone live close to Bonalba Golf, Mutxamel, San Juan. How bad has this one been in this area . We were at San Juan Sept 21 when about 3" fell in a couple of hours and our new place let in water - so I am a bit concerned reading these reports as the builder has not replied to my emails. |

I remember a Bridge collapsed in the US not long ago and in fact it took over the whole media here on TV and in the paper's, it was a masisve story on Sky and the BBC. I dont know what it is with the media in the UK, Me for one couldnt give 2 hoots to anything that happen's in the US and I dont think many people really do. Last night a whole hour was allocated for the run up to the election in the state's. I do my best to keep up with news in Spain, I watch the TVE Espana Directo when ever I am around, that is my personal interest though. The majority of brit people I have met in Spain though on the whole dont have a clue what goes on in the country they live - and I guess that is to do with lack of coverage in the UK to the channel's they watch. I speak to some people today in Villajoyasa is it, they havent a clue to any bridge collapsing, or any of the storm. They knew all the too much boozing that has been on all day though.

Rained here in javea most of yesterday, most of last night and is continuing even now as I write...
![]() CNN International actually showed footage of the bridge collapse in Beniarbeig, plus local flooding in what they called Valencia, whether that was the city or the province I don't know. It appears that we are due for unsettled weather, including rain, for the remainder of the week... ![]() Interestingly, we were informed by a local that Javea holds the world record for the most amount of rainfall, either in one go or over a specified amount of time, I'm not sure which and will have to verify this. I guess this goes back to the 1957 flood. |

My son and his girlfriend are due to fly out tomorrow for a week staying with her parents. It's at a place called Formentara de segura (I think) ...about 50 miles south of Alicante? Any news on any damage caused by flooding there at all??
Thanks Sally |

Other countries do take an interest though. You might be surprised how far the news travels - look at http://tinyurl.com/37jxos |

That is precisely the opposite of what I think...I couldn't give a toss as to what goes on in the UK, don't watch any of the Brit channels, just the Spanish ones and CNN so I can get a better understanding of current world events. I'm a bit partial to the US news though, being a USC!!! Firtreesix |
