Yesterday there was alot of talk of an earthquake in the early hours of the morning.

Has anyone heard anything relating to that?

I can tell you that a young lady was rescued from the Arenal Beach on Friday. She apparently fell into the Fortuna Canal, the boat basin, and was carried along and under the bridge, where several people jumped in to try and effect a rescue. She was fortunate in that she had a motorcycle helmet on as the passage beneath the bridge was probably pretty bad. The rescuers were unable to get to her before she was taken out to sea and swept along parallel to the beach. Once again the rescuers took to the water, by now she was at least 100 meters out to sea, and were able to get a hold of her and brought her back to shore. Apparently by this time she was not breathing and had begun to turn blue. They were able to resuscitate her by CPR and she was airlifted out by helo. I don't know the outcome of it all. Congratulations to a certain member of the Civil Protection unit, a woman Police Officer and an unknown person...heroes in my book.

In answer to your other question asked later regarding earthquake, I haven't heard anything about that, curious though.

We are experiencing rain once again here in Javea and are expecting more overnight and possibly more tomorrow, or so the forecast predicts...great, we really don't need it.

Have been searching the web for information on this storm and found this forum . Our friends in Beniarbeig sent us pic`s of the flooding and bridge we hope for everyone in the area the weather breaks and allows things to get cleaned up. There has been NOTHING in the English media about this at all , not one measly word in the press or on the box. Anyway having found the site I have joined and will stay in touch.
Eric.

As reported on TVEi, this is a catastrophe. The images of towns flooding, with rivers bursting their banks - and the unbelievable force of the water - is hard to comprehend. Take care everyone out there.

Looks like the rain's back again near Alicante. The thunder's starting to rumble and it's very dark outside now, hope it's not going to be a repeat of earlier!

You will never find anything really about events in Spain in the English Media, English media is only interested in China UK Russia and US really, other European countries such as Germany and France are included in small percentages.

05.00 this morning , biggest lightening storm I have ever seen, rained about two hours later.
Coincides with the big storm in the UK 20 years ago to almost the exact time.

As it happens Sky news has allocated about 15 seconds of airtime to this today

About time too. Why Sky though? Considering the number of British people living in Spain, something the BBC has been quite happy to publicize and discuss recently, I too was surprised to find no mention (on their web site at least as I don't have a TV!) of the storms that this thread has been reporting. I guess that you Spanish lot just don't pay your license fees!
