My Village/City police had no clue on what to write in Police report - so Police chief asked my parents to write something and he will stamp it (after manual verification is complete that is) - So i found sample police report from one the site and we used that.

and yes I am afghan .. and so is my wife.. and right term for us is "Afghani"

naw thats in everybody head - afghans are treated ok. Pakistani police works differently - police is paid powerly, so they use different means to keep life going (VERY VERY against Islam). So police usually give people these kind of answers to get some money out of people. Some people do give-in and save the headache - and i don't encourage it but there are only two ways this person will be get heard:

1. Slip Rs 500-1000 (again very bad thing and i will never do that)
2. Find out who in city has influance on police, and use him/her

Interesting, I'm glad you shared that, thanks. And congratulations on your son...I bet he's a doll.

Sanaa, I have been in contact with the embassy for months trying to get them to fax/email me a copy of this letter. They refuse. I said I would pay for the charges and they will not. I got a hold of a letter someone else used and am going to simply change the info around and email it to the fiances. There isn't a seal or anything on it so if it works, hey why not?
They both live in Quetta and are going to the Alamochok (spelling) station.

I will try to advise my soon to be in-laws to offer a small gift....THANKS for your kind words....
You are very welcome :-)
I don't know much about Quetta, Balochistan.... grew up in Punjab so know a lot about that area, sorry can't help much in there.
I hope this letter you are sending works, so you don't have to go through this horrible experience any longer....
for police report as someone already said, goto another nearby one if that specific one is being so un-cooperative... and kind of explain them that they are not asking for any identity as pakistani, all they are asking for is, if they have any records on these people and if no then just say it so on a piece of paper....

Good Luck to you!

Sanna
