You siad you like pretty traditional?
Lane Cove Steak House is pretty decent - not overly expensive

Aqua Dining is superb food and views - more expensive but $250 should be ample for two
http://www.northshoredining.com/loca...ons_point.html
This I recommend as a twosomes evening!
If you like Italian
http://www.italianvillage.com.au/IVLOCATION.htm
If you like fish
obviously Doyles as people have mentioned - make sure it is a warm night if seated outside cause we froze one night.
Top recommendations from a work colleague who knows everything about everything social
Cafe Sydney - can be quite nosiey

But for the more romantic evening try Est (harder to find this one on the www - so sorry for the shoddy link)

Enjoy your evening

Harry's Cafe de Wheels, pie’s were a disappointment (take my word I’m a true Eastender!)
Although, not far away, by the ‘W’ hotel is Finger wharf which has some great restaurants along it. Otto’s springs to mind…
And also – as already mentioned Cockle Bay wharf in Darling Harbor has you spoilt for choice. I know you’re not keen on sea food but we bumped into a chef who used to work there (left because of an argument), he’d worked in various kitchens and said that Nick’s was the freshest food around! We’ve tried it and it’s yum!
Enjoy
