Interesting report on BBC news this morning about those who have retired to certain countries where UK OAP pensions are fixed from the year pensioners moved.
Some in countries like Canada are receiving less than 50% of those of the same age who retired to countries within the EU.
Just remember there is always someone a lot worse off than you. !!

it is common knowledge that retirement to certain countries pegs the pension to the rate on the date you left the UK
Just ask yourself the question - why is it frozen in Canada, South Africa, New Zealand etc when it isn't in the USA and Samoa
see http://www.britishpensions.org.au/frozenindexed.htm
but then its only those in the EU that get the WFA.

Dom I have spotted a problem in the first paragraph "Some people, including politicians, think that all Frozen Pensioners around the world are fighting to get the full British State Retirement Pension, That is not so, We are only asking for our full entitlements ? in accordance with our individual contribution records." So I thought as it mentioned entitlement I should read no further.

I think I am correct in thinking the freezing of pensions applies to State pension only and not other Government pensinons like Forces etc?
Interesting that so many of the countries are ex British Colonies like Belize Hong Kong etc where many servicemen will have served and possibly married local girls, so no doubt not unusual that they may retire back to their spouses homeland for retirement. Also the likes of Fiji where certainly the Army recruit quite a few from.

I didn't ask the question........
one of the very few reasons for my deciding against Malaysia for retirement, as with many of the old Commonwealth countries are on the Frozen List.
and thats new news ???

Would anybody like to try and compare the costs that will be incurred keeping Dale Cregan to the costs of supporting a pensioner?
