What is the point of all this childish nonsense Stevie ?
Having seen the number of times you've dropped yourself in the mire, it's little wonder that most ppl have more sense.
In any even it's just not very Spanish Stevie.
Down here it's Kay Sera Sera, What will be, Will be and all that,
.......... though there again I'm forgetting you're stuck in London, so maybe you're even more out of touch with Spanish culture than I realized.

And yes I'm in London this week, but soon to be back in Madrid

Why don't we have a "meet-up" now and evaluate some of the predictions made by forum members, or the ones they've flagged up in the press and agreed with, over the past 4 years or so, why wait until October?
- Greece will exit the Euro and the Euro will collapse
- Spain will exit the Euro and the Euro will collapse
- The Euro will collapse even if nobody exits it
- Depositors in Spanish banks will lose 70% of their money when the Spanish banks are bailed out
- Terrible civil unrest will break out in Spain and the FCO will have to put its contingency plan to rescue British expats into action
I could go on ...
I hope nobody actually bet any money on them.

Re: France - the 3.2% fall in exports to France. Germany and Italy, has been more than compensated by large increases to Africa and Asia

Like I have also said I want both the UK and Spain to get sorted out as I have interests in both countries.

Lynn I think the Jury is still out on the Euro as I have said previously time will tell. However my worry is that the Euro and Germany may well survive and even do well, while many of the Eurozone Countries collapse rather than the currency. It does seem to me that they will make the Euro work no matter at what cost to the citizens of the Eurozone.

Only kidding, and totally agree with your sentiments, especially wanting both countries to get sorted out.

Lets face it if we had listened to Gordon Brown in 2007 the impending financial situation was not going to have that much of an affect on the UK! yeh right.

I'm the vegetable chef on a Sunday, a task I enjoy, and all the fresh ingredients are Spanish, sourced from local shops. The poultry chef has put the chicken in a new, large kind of boil-in-the-bag, which flavours it much better than my chopped garlic and chives.
My point? If the European wheel really falls off, Spain is diverse and big enough, and under-populated enough to feed its own people.
I have a big enough garden to grow other things apart from roses and oranges, and I sometimes think about it, I can visualise chickens running about, and maybe a goat or two for milk and cheese. And if I stop pumping chlorine into the swimming pool, perhaps I could stick some fish in there, the ones you can eat.
I've already got two ducks in the pool, but they're plastic.

Spain does not feed its people, people buy the food they eat, and sometimes grow it.
There was a report from an agricultural grower, saying that every night people are stealing a lettuce, tomato and onion or 2 from his crops.
and the numbers of people doing these small thefts are increasing every night.
He said that it is happening more and more, and a woman with her identity hidden said she did it, and that she was very ashamed to have to do it, but finances or lack of them forced her to steal.
So even though a country can feed itself, as you say, does not mean that the poorer people are being fed.
