Netflix is only available in the Uk but if he has paid memebership of it he may be able to get it here via a VPN such as expatshield etc.
Alternatively he can get ITV BBC etc through film on which we can get here.

Hi there,
I have come to your post while clicking through the Forum, and this is my recommendation. If your father-in-law gets the internet, I would recommend using FilmOn SD (The SD version is free, the HD one is not), as the simplest option for UK television. For a reasonable performance, he will need a minimum speed of 3MB (preferably 6MB for the best reception).
Check it out now in the U.K. and get used to using it (there are record options), before spending any cash
Connect the computer to the TV using an HDMI (best) or a VGA cable.
If you want Netflix, BBC iPlayer, or ITV Player, you will need to download and use the free "Expat Shield" program. Put simply, these progs. will work as it makes it look as though you are in the UK.

Hope this helps,
John
