Opinion of Knutsford/Chester?

Many thanks for the info. We sometimes trip out to Handforth Dean etc and Wilmslow (Wilmslow seems to be the fav with my OH and Sons and although the shopping is good, for me Wilmslow does not have the Village feel hence our dithering on where to buy) I have noted the Leigh Arms lol and will give it a try lol, we did trip out to Lymm and went to the Cat with Two Tails which was nice and also love the Miners Arms in Adlington (near the Canal)
Try alderley and prestbury for the authentic feel next to wilmslow. Good luck

We did that last week, I loved Prestbury, Alderley was nice but a bit squashed in

Well we have to decide between a rental in plumley or Appleton. I think the former has it
If bucks were no deterrent then AE would have it. Great place to live
Admiral Rodney used to be a nice boozer in prestbury.

Glad you made a choice. Hope you enjoy your new home. Chester was such a lovely place years ago but like many have said the Night Clubs have spoilt it plus the idea that catering to visitors instead of locals was the way to go. They closed down many of the small shops that sold meat/veg/bakeries and went with all the sovenier shops and clothes and dress shops. Such a shame they really messed with it. I doubt they will ever get it right even thought they keep trying. They put up buildings and then pull them down.
I lived in Hoole which was very close to town and still has a busy shopping centre and on the other side is Handbridge. The problem with that whole area is traffic especially during the summer and Christmas. Many of my relatives dont even try to get into Chester it takes too long.

I have never heard of these areas and just googled, I think Appleton as it seems nearer to the M56 etc and looks a lovely area...oh heck...here I go again....we have until Set. to make a choice on an area...should be enough time.

Hint of Scouse....nope sorry that kills that idea lol!!!!!! only joking... might have a "trip" out this weekend...nice weather for a drive by the sounds of it. Have you tried (a bit away from you but a lovely walk along the Mac.Canal towards Marple otherwise a drive along the London Road) the Midland Pub in Marple Bridge, lovely pub instead and great food, also the Oddfellows in Mellor is just lovely.

Have you tried the Smokehouse in Wilmslow? (just off the Altrincham Road) a Farmers Shop but with a lovely Cafe/Restaurant upstairs.

Haven't been to Wilmslow for a few years. Used to work there back in the 70's...that's where I met my husband. Lived in Bramhall/Cheadle Hulme and Macclesfield...so I know the areas around there pretty well. Nice part of the world.
