I have the feeling it was a domestic. I thought neighbours heard raised voices? He seems to have believed the publicity around him and lived the celib lifestyle but with little maturity around women.
The guy is only 26 after all. I'd say he'll be very lucky to get out of this,unless the system is so corrupt that he can somehow pay his way out.
I suspect even in RSA that will not present as an option at this stage..

Cue some helpful soul posting from Wikipedia soon enough. I don't think the actual number matters. It is a) far too high and b) the vast majority is either domestic, or takes place in poor shanty towns.

Exactly. It's the same with the US. Thousands and thousands of people are murdered here every year, but it would be silly to suggest that a) you can't walk down the street or sleep safe if your bed without getting shot and b) that the odds of being a victim of violent crime are far greater in some places than others inside the country.

Not exactly the same with the US. And although the US is known to be relatively unsafe, its nothing like SA.
