Default SkillSelect Invitation

hi
with the new Skillselect system.

shall i prepare IELTS, Occupation Assessment, etc. before the invitation?
or shall i get the invitation first then prepare my documents?

is there an expiry for the invitation?

I recommend that you don't claim points for these things until you have secured the relevant outcomes.

Best regards.

You must have taken the language test & had the skills assessment at the time you submit the EoI.

Quote:
While you don’t need to submit documents supporting your claims when you submit your EOI, you must have a range of information prepared.

For example, for an independent skilled visa you must have:
  • completed a skills assessment and/or a job ready program
  • taken an English-language test to prove you meet the English language requirement.

Be aware: You must have documents supporting the claims you make in your EOI ready to go. An invitation to make a visa application may be issued very quickly after you submit your EOI and you will only have 60 days to lodge a completed visa application.

These are what I have done, to be exact with dates:-

21 June 2012 - Migration Skills Assessment application received by the professional body. Results to be released by the end of July 2012.

30 June 2012 - Sat for an IELTS test. Results to be released by the end of July 2012, too.

3 July 2012 - Submitted EOI's on 189 and 190 visas. They tally 55 and 60 points respectively. These are excluding points from IELTS results.

I am pretty sure that my UK degree and work experience will be positively recognized. Therefore, the IELTS is not a do-or-die business for me, assuming that I have 6 points in every module. On this basis, I have lodged my EOI and state sponsorship request.

I could have done it in a more conversative way. That is to wait for both of these results before lodging anything on the government website.

As mrsgreenstar76 have stated, I suggest that as an absolute minimum, you do not submit EOI until having taken an IELTS test and applied for a skill assessment.

You have mentioned that you submit the EOI on 189 and 190 both, does that mean you submit 2 EOI's or this option is available in a single EOI.

As i learnt with the Consolidated SOL it is possible to lodge both VISA sub classes in a single EOI if the occupation is listed on CSOL 1?

You can select as many visas as you like on a single EoI.

That is correct. I have ticked both 189 and 190. Other than these two, the others do not really apply to me.

Finger crossed mate. The process will be exhaustive, because you have to pay various fees on different items. However, just be positive.

Let's hope that all of us get a positive results.

Yes it was exhaustive for us as well though we got through the process some time back.

What I saw here is that the EOI will determine the best possible VISA for the applicants out of 189 and 190 where as in earlier we had to make that decision by our own before applying.

Cheers,
PB

Just out of interest, how did you manage to submit an EOI before your skills assessment was completed? I have just started drafting mine and on the skills assessment section it requests the date the skills assessment was completed.

Thanks,

Jonny
