OECD rates Australia world's best nation

Australia ranked near or at the top of almost every one of the 11 overall measures, edging out Norway and the US for the number one spot.
How on earth can life in Norway be compared with the US? I've worked for both Norwegian and US companies and wouldn't want to live in either place, for totally different reasons.
(Just saying, Nokia is a Finnish company, but then most Finns speak English as well as Norwegians.)

This requires people to judge whether they have more positive experiences in an average day, such as feelings of pride or accomplishment, compared with negative experiences, such as pain or boredom, in an average day.
The OECD average was 72 per cent of people saying they were satisfied.
The rate was 74 per cent in Australia.
Obviously never surveyed any residents of Brisbane.

(can't even express that concept to myself my brain was spinning haha)Another fact - there are waaaay more speakers of ESL than there are English as a mother tongue.
Not too surprised about the results in the article - as long as they didn't ask any expats
it's good to know that overall the Aussies are pretty positive about life

At the end of the day, it probably doesn't really matter to the average person which country is the 'best', as long as that particular person is happy with their lot. Also, why do neutral organisations need to tell us all this, (eg. UN, OECD) can't we figure it out for ourselves?
If/when Abbott becomes prime minister, Aus will probably plummet down the rankings from no. 1 to around 42 within 6 months anyway so we should enjoy it while it lasts.

All I have to say on the matter is:
"Quality of life is what you pay for, life is what pays you"
