The notice said that USCIS has received your petition and accepted it for processing. The petition is not yet approved, and at 3 months it may still be in a box on a shelf waiting to be given to a case officer for adjudication.

ok, well yeah i meant that they said he was eligible not that it was approved, i know its not approved yet! but according to the USCIS website. when i typed in my receipt thing it said within 30 days i should have heard something. not sure how accurate that is seeing as i havent. wasnt sure if i should worry or not?
also another question..i wont have to go for an interview right, just my fiance in the UK...at the embassy right? i have done all this research months and months ago but now im second guessing everything!! THANK U for the responses ![]() |

Almost certainly right. There have been a few reports by petitioners that they were called for an interview with regard to their petition, but it's extremely rare.

ive put my receipt number in the UNCIS status thing and this is what it said..
On February 21, 2012, we received this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E), and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or contact our customer service center aas will ^^ i havent received anything apart from the receipt thing, so im worried maybe it got lost in the mail?? should i contact them or just try and be patient. cuz i havent received a notice describing anything? and according to the status thingy im only on the initial review block so i apparently still have 8 steps to go and its been over 3 months! |

^^^ This one. ^^^
A typical I-129F approval can take up to 5 months. You submitted it in February. If you don't hear anything by the end of July, then you can start wondering. Rene

"the receipt thing" is the notice that this online status refers to. Don't expect the online status to change for another month or two.
I always have to chuckle when I see people, and USCIS itself, refer to "tracking status". How meaningful is it to track something that never changes for essentially its whole existence? ![]() Regards, JEff Quote:

Lost in the mail? It probably hasn't even come to the top of the pile on the officer's desk. You've got another 2 months or so before that happens.

"it" was the Receipt Notice, which she's already received a couple of months back. She does not yet understand the USCIS' cryptic one-size-does-not-fit-all messages.

You don't - that's the point. Do not make ANY plans that cannot be moved changed or cancelled until you have the visa in hand.

Here's the thing... the visa is valid for 6 months, and he has almost 3 months in which to get married... that's almost 9 months to plan a wedding once he gets the visa. A major problem that many people have is that they are just totally impatient. Ian

yea well its ur life ur waiting on, so i can see why people are impatient! but yeah i will try.. i just thought when the waiting list said its 5 months, that it would be finished in 5 months not just hearing back 5 months later.

On February 21, 2012, we received this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E), (that shows it wasn't lost in the mail)
and mailed you a notice (that's the letter you said you got after a few weeks) describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or contact our customer service center ..... Nothing has been approved yet and your receipt letter does not mean he's eligible like you said in an earlier post. It means your submission was complete enough to be accepted for review. You included and signed all the forms and your check was for the correct amount. Otherwise they would have mailed it all back to you. A way to plan a wedding is get the visa in hand. Then it doesn't have to be used for 6 months. Then you have 90 days to marry once he uses the visa. That's 9 months for scheduling a wedding if you push it to the limits. |
